Kariba North Bank Extension Power Corporation (KNBEPC) Limited is a state-owned company and a subsidiary of ZESCO Limited, engaged in generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity. The company was incorporated in 2007. It owns and operates a 360MW Station in Siavonga, Southern province of Zambia. We aim to accomplish our vision and mission of being the power supplier of choice and as a reliable partner in the electricity supply chain. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to making a positive impact by promoting sustainable energy practice

The Power station since commissioning has fulfilled its main purpose to mitigate the Power deficit that was being experienced in the Country before, this resulted in load Management during peak hours.

Kariba North Bank Extension Power Generation is a peaking plant producing 432GWh of electricity units per year. Our operations help to reduce adverse effects of shortage of energy during peak times and times when the base load of generating units of Kariba North Bank Power Station are undergoing maintenance.

In order for the company to remain relevant and ensure business sustainability, we intend to explore the many opportunities created by the favorable weather patterns in 2007 by increasing power generation. In this regard, we intend to engage ZESCO Limited, our only customer to grant us a waiver and work together to enter into short or long term contracts to supply power to other off-takers from within the region in order to reduce our dependency on ZESCO Limited as a single off taker.

Further, inn order to improve the equity ratio for shareholders KNBEPC intends to engage the holding company (ZESCO Limited) on the possibility of reducing the debtor days and to convert part of its loan to KNBEPC to equity. The company would further be engaging the financier (DBSA) for support to invest in more strategic assets and projects for value addition and to broaden the revenue potential of the company.

The Company’s principal activity are the generation and supply of electricity to its sole customer, ZESCO Limited, the holding company.
